Cats prowling the neighborhood
#1
Guest_Guest
Spring is in the air and cats are on the prowl again! I almost hit one on Jackson near 12th last week and then last night I almost hit one near Jackson and Eighth. It was a large yellow tabby. This is not safe for the cat or me. I swerved to avoid it and narrowly missed hitting a parked car.

I know that I am not popular for trapping cats. However, we did not purchase our home to be popular. Nor to be the village litterbox.

My trap is set and any cat unlucky enough to be caught in it will be turned over to animal control. The cats are rarely in the trap for more than a few hours during the day and I never set the trap when the weather is extremely hot or cold. I do everything I can to ensure the safety and comfort of the animal. Yes, several of the cats trapped have had to be destroyed but only because they were sick. 2 of the cats I caught had FELINE DISTEMPER!! They fight or have contact with your cat and pass the disease. They come into my yard leaving the virus and then my dogs track it into my house where my cats can pick it up.

I can not stress enough the damage done by stray cats in the neighborhood.

I understand that cats are escape artitists. I have 2 that I have to keep a very sharp eye on.

To all my neighbors who don't own cats and still feel the need to intervene everytime they see animal control at my house. Mind your own business and stay on your side of the fence/street/block. Animal control will not release the cat to it's owner. They have to recoup the money it cost for them to come get the animal. What I am doing does not concern you and it is not illegal. I have spoken to the police and I have the right to trap the cats. They also said that animal control bills the village everytime they have to come out.

I HATE TRAPPING CATS!!!! But I do what I have to do to ensure the safety of my pets and property and will not apologise for it.

To those of you who think what I am doing is wrong, then you go buy a cat trap and if you know the owner give them back their cat. I don't have the time nor the inclination to find out who the cat belongs to.
The traps can be purchased affordably at Farm and Fleet.

Could you at the very least put signs up around town..Topway, etc that you are doing this? I agree that your animals should be indoor, but its VERY sad if someone's cat gets out and you trap it and send it away to be destroyed. We see a lot of lost cat signs around town..they do get out. I hope you are on the East side of town...sounds like you are. We have quite a few outdoor cats that I know of on the West side of town that never cause problems.

I have posted signs and they all get taken down by people who don't agree with what I am doing. I have tried to notify people with signs before and all I get is nasty posts here for trying to help them retrieve their pet. Do you remember? Let me refresh your memory.
This is what YOU wrote when I did post a notice. Not a lot of incentive to do it again.

"Saw a posting at Topway that someone has been trapping cats in their yard and sending them to the Winnebago County Animal Services. I won't even begin to comment on this before I get myself into trouble, but I hope that if your pet is missing you see this post. I know that place doesnt give much time to animals to live :( I hope this helps someone ...and especially helps those animals. And PLEASE keep your pets inside - because of people like this :("

People like me.

I do not send the cats to be destroyed!
The owner can always get their animal back if they go to the shelter and pick them up in a timely manner. If the cat is destroyed it is the owners lack of concern that kills it not me.
The cats are temperment tested and if they pass they are put up for adoption. I don't know how long they keep the ones that don't pass. If the cat is missing more than a day I would think a concerned pet owner would check the shelter on the next business day to see if they have it.

I do live on the east side of Pec. But be warned there are others who are trapping cats as well. It is not only me. And at least we are not shooting them like someone else in the village.

I wont post notices at Topway anymore, but I will do this. I will post the description of the cat and the date it was caught in my trap here on the message board..

As i have stated before I HATE TRAPPING CATS!!! But, I LOVE my pets more. They are my main concern. It is "people like this "who are responsible pet owners.

Just an update. To date I have not caught any cats in my trap.

I also want to mention that my trap is up against my house under the kitchen windows. I do not have it placed out in the yard or near any of my property lines. I have it placed only to catch those cats that are actually up by the house, where they have no business in the first place.

So have you sent any beloved pets to their deaths lately?? Love your statement..."I do not send the cats to be destroyed" What do you think they are going to do to them? It's a cats nature to wander.
They were here first by Gods hand. I truly don't know how you stand yourself, it's horrible what you do. You must have little to do with your time and have a ice cold heart and no conscience. You're evil

No I haven't. I have not caught any cats in my trap yet. Why you missing one or just trying to make me feel guilty? I will never feel guilty about it. Your weak attempt at humiliation won't work either.

They are not destroyed if they are adoptable. I know several people at the shelter and they said they will only destroy sick or vicious animals. They evaluate the animal and then decide if they can be placed for adoption.

If they are so beloved they would not be wandering around the neighborhood.

A beloved pet would not be let out to roam. They wander into the street and get hit by cars. They get picked up by sadistic people, have you seen the news out of Florida? A Teenager tortured and mutilated 30+ cats. That is truly evil. They can be attacked by dogs if they roam into the wrong yard. They can wander out into the fields and be attacked by raccoons or coyotes Who is really sending them to their deaths? Not me.

I am not evil. I do not go out and seek the cats. They come into my yard right under my kitchen window. I am only tryng to protect my pets and property from the stray cats that roam into my yard. I am also within my legal right to remove unwanted animals from my yard. If I were evil I would not post here that I have a trap and will turn the animals over to animal control. I give the owners a chance to reclaim their pets. If they love their pet they will go get them before they are adopted.

Genesis 1:26 says that man has dominion over all animals that roam the Earth.

If you believe for one moment that they do not gas healthy animals I have a really nice bridge in San Fran to sell you.
What do you think they do when they become overcrowded? Why do you think the cages have dates on them?
Let's see..what is it that you do? Set out a cage to trap an innocent animal doing what comes naturally to them, wander and investigate. Then take them to a place where if not adopted within a certain period of time are gassed. Chocked to death by a lethal gas, after being blinded by it first and gasping for breath collapses and then spasms until death.
You should be present at one and see how benign your practice is.

Jesus would not advocate any practice that is of the unnatural.

quote] Jesus would not advocate any practice that is of the unnatural.

Matthew 8: 31 - 32

So, the devils besought him, saying If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.

And He said unto them GO. And when they were come out they went into the herd of swine; and, behold the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.

Time to stop using your religon to make me appear to be evil.(because you obviously don't know your Bible as well as you think you do).

You are beginning to sound like my neighbor. Maybe that is why you hide behind a guest moniker.

Don't claim to know the Bible. And CLB identifies you? I'm done with you, you are a waste of time. You are an ignorant evil person who kills innocent animals
