A Winnebago County Circuit Court Ruling in favor of the Village of Pecatonica was issued on September 6, 2011. The Court’s ruling found that a contract between WMI and the Village of Pecatonica was void since it violated State Law. The contract was entered into by the former Village President, Robert Whetsel, on January 7, 2004 and was void because its duration extended beyond the term of the Village President. Current Village President Shawn Connors filed the lawsuit in order to have the contract declared invalid and prevent WMI from attempting to collect a penalty of $100,000 against the Village of Pecatonica for refusing the continue using the services of WMI.

Peabudys North is hosting a New Holland Super Boom Road Show event to benefit the Red Cross. The event will begin at 9 a.m. and go until 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, at Peabudys North, 2430 N. Pecatonica Road.
In the event, equipment operators will face off in the 200 Series Skid Steer Challenge. The loaders are small, fast-moving machines that can be found in construction, landscaping and agriculture projects across the country.

Their page is informative and yet is not a gossip page. I love it. No names are mentioned in degrading ways and the posts are not disrespectful in any way.
They say, "We are here to provide public safety calls to the facebook community. Fire, Police, Medical, etc., etc. I will post any activity I hear. But I am only human and can not listen 24 hours a day. Anyone else listening is free to post any action heard. However please do not include address or names. Street and nature of the call is all that needs to be posted."
I've been watching this development and have found it to be a truly honorible service. Weather related post and road information can be critcal at times.

Each year Pecatonica's Cars on Main gets bigger and better. This year it is on July 23, 2011. The event is put on by the Pecatonica Improvement Assoc. Watch for more details.

The 2011 Memorial Day parade statrts at 2:00 PM and lines up on 7th Street and proceeds down Main Street. It's an awesome day. Come and join the fun.

16th Annual Crooked River 5K Walk/Run sponsored by the Friends of the Pecatonica Library and will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2011. The run/walk is also a 2011 circuit race for the Rockford Road Runners. Registration is $20 in advance, $25 day of the event and includes a moisture management T-shirt, post run/walk refreshments, door prizes, and awards to the top male and female finishers as well as top three male and female finishers in age bracket groups. Rockford Road Runner members and Summit Fitness Running Club members receive a $2 discount with preregistration. Registration starts at 6:30 a.m. and closes at 7:40. Event begins at 8:00 a.m. and starts and ends at the Pecatonica Library. Registration forms are available at the Pecatonica Library and Summit Fitness.
